Losing 5 lbs sounds like an easy thing to do, and in a way it really is. But often, those last few pounds are the hardest to shed, especially if you have a short time to melt them away.

If you're trying to figure out how to lose 5 pounds in 2 days you need to know that you will need to make a concentrated effort in the next 48 hours to make it work.

If you're trying to figure out how to lose 5 pounds in 2 days you need to know that you will need to make a concentrated effort in the next 48 hours to make it work.

Losing weight is all about creating a calorie deficit. When you have more time you can work on building up your metabolism and slowly increasing your natural calorie burn rate. In 2 days, such a gradual process is not possible. You need to take much stronger and firmer action.

To create the necessary calorie deficit to lose 5 pounds in 2 days you need to:

a. Restrict your calorie consumption for the next two days, sticking to fruit juices and other liquids as your primary source of calories and avoiding calorie rich foods such as bread, pasta, cereals, and so on.

Some of these foods are actually healthy for you and I would not recommend going without them normally, but since you have a very short deadline, you need to do without most of your favorite foods and stick to those with fewer calories.

One of the results of these two days of semi-liquid-fast is that you may feel slightly tired. Don't ever let yourself get too exhausted. You need your strength to perform the workouts required to lose the weight you need.

b. To increase your calorie deficit you also need to boost the calories you actively burn through your workouts. In two days you can't burn too much but you can certainly do enough to achieve your goal.

I would focus on combined workouts of cardio and strength training. You need to make these workouts intensive and challenging. If you're not sweating profusely during these workouts then you're not working hard enough. I recommend starting out with a warm up, moving onto strength training (workout your entire body), and finishing off with some intensive and fast paced cardio.

Note: much of the weight you will lose in these two days will be water weight. You need to be aware that this will not all be fat.

To make sure you maintain this weight loss or even continue to shed weight, please make sure to eat a sensible diet from now on and to continue working out regularly.
